Keeping your Regular Dental Appointments Saves you Money
Many people make the mistake of avoiding going to their semiannual dental appointments because of the cost. What many people do not realize is that by skipping these appointments, you could be costing yourself more money in the long run. In general, keeping up your twice a year appointments will help us keep your oral health on track, preventing serious and costly dental procedures from being necessary in the future.

Preventive Care

More often than not, the dental care provided at your routine appointments is for preventive care. These appointments are usually every six months, and allow us to take x-rays, perform a thorough exam and suggest treatments for any issues that we may find. If issues such as tooth decay, mild gum disease or abscesses are left untreated for a long period of time, they can result in more serious issues that will not only be costly but invasive.

Fast Treatment

Sometimes your semiannual appointments will include a problem/solution session, especially if you are dealing with pain or another troubling issue. Rather than waiting until the pain or issue becomes intolerable, we can handle it right away, allowing you to get immediate treatment and resolving the problem before it gets out of hand.

If you are considering avoiding your next six month checkup just to save a few dollars, think of the big picture. Skipping one appointment now could result in several more costly appointments in the future. Give your teeth the attention they deserve and schedule your six month appointment today.

Drink Plenty of Water
Water is important for our bodies; and it is also very important for our teeth. In fact, it is so important that you should be drinking a glass of water after nearly every other drink or food that you consume whenever possible. Water one of the best things, next to brushing your teeth, in order to rinse your mouth of sugar and bacteria causing particles. The act of drinking a glass of water following a sugary drink or any type of food helps wash the sugar and particles away from your teeth, lowering your risk of tooth decay and gum disease in the future.

Improperly Fitting Dentures can Cause Malnutrition
If you have dentures, regular dental appointments are crucial. Many people think the opposite is true since dentures are not their natural teeth, but dentures require the same dental check-up maintenance frequency as your natural teeth. At your appointments, we can check to determine if your dentures are still fitting properly and if your oral tissue is healthy. If they are not fitting properly and you do not have them fixed, eating could become difficult, even painful. Over time, as you adjust the foods that you eat to make it less painful, you could become malnourished and suffer other physical complications as a result. Take the time to have your dentures checked and keep your oral and physical health in good standing.
